Carrie Kirby
Carrie Kirby, Music Director

Carrie E. Kirby, soprano, has been Music Director of the West Hartford Women’s Chorale since the spring of 2004. She has completed post-graduate course work at the Hartt School of Music in Vocal Performance, is currently on the faculty of the Hartt Community Division, and maintains an active private voice studio. She is a voice student of Neil Rosenshein.

Ms. Kirby holds a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from DePaul University, where she served as assistant conductor to Dr. Keith Hampton. She prepared works such as Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and Little Organ Mass, the Mozart Requiem, the Faure Requiem, and numerous smaller choral works at both the university and community levels. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of South Florida. In 2001, Ms. Kirby was the national winner of the American Choral Director’s Association’s Undergraduate Conducting Competition.

Roles in her operatic repertoire include Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro), Nella (Gianni Schicchi), Susannah in (Susannah), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Female Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia), Elisetta (Il Matrimonio Segreto), and Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw). Her concert repertoire includes Handel’s Messiah and Mozart’s Requiem.
