AUDITIONS

Auditions for Camerata

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, starting at 8:30 p.m. for those interested in joining WHWC's smaller ensemble, Camerata.

Prospective Camerata  members should be prepared to sing the Star Spangled Banner in multiple keys, sight-read rhythmic examples with count-singing or a neutral syllable, sight-read melodic examples with solfege or neutral syllables, and sight-read a song while the pianist plays accompaniment.

Acceptance into Camerata will be dependent on tone quality, musicianship skills, and committed rehearsal attendance.

To schedule an audition, please sign up for an audition time. The sign-up sheet will be made available during the first open rehearsal on September 8. If you have any questions, please e-mail Tracy Thomas at director@wh-womens-chorale.org.

Placement Hearings for New Members
and/or Returning Members

  • Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 8:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 8:30 p.m.

Placement hearings for the West Hartford Women’s Chorale will be held for new members, and for returning members who wish to sing in a different section this year.
PLACEMENT HEARINGS ARE NOT AUDITIONS!

New Members should be prepared to sing the Star Spangled Banner or Happy Birthday, or another song of their choosing.  At the discretion of the director, new members may also be asked to sing a few scales or vocal exercises to determine placement within choral sections (Soprano or Alto).

Acceptance into the West Hartford Women’s Chorale depends on the ability to match pitch. No prior musical experience is necessary.

Returning members who want to remain in their section and are not interested in auditioning for Camerata do not need to schedule a placement hearing.

Please feel free to email Tracy Thomas with any questions or concerns: director@wh-womens-chorale.org.
